Humbird is a collaborative process, bringing together the talents of Siri Undlin and long-time musical partner Dexter Wolfe (from their duo Undlin & Wolfe) with Minneapolis musician Pat Keen (bass/drums). After traversing 5 continents and 20 countries with only a guitar and a backpack, Humbird returns home to sing songs from the edge of the world.
Born and raised in Minneapolis, Humbird’s songwriter Siri Undlin is the eldest daughter of a trial lawyer and Lutheran preacher. She witnessed the power of stories from a young age and began writing music and performing at the age of 12. Combining a wintry longing with the warmth of a familiar folktale, Humbird stretches between experimental folk and environmental Americana to embrace the unexpected.
The Mimzees are a Des Moines, IA based band working in the chamber music/folk idiom. With Tommy Boynton on guitar and vocals plus Brendan O’Donnell on viola, violin, and bass, their influences include: Schumann, Grieg, Simon and Garfunkel, Led Zeppelin, Bill Evans, Fred Hersch, Ravel, Beethoven, Joni Mitchell, Ryan Stier, Nicholas Frampton, Nancy King, Billie Holiday, and many more.
Showtime is Saturday, August 18th at 8pm. Tickets are $10 in advance (cafeparadiso.net or at Paradiso), $12 at the show.
